Been having trouble posting updates. But here’s today’s pictures!

Day: 56

They are stretching like crazy. Going to add an additional scrog net to try and hold them down. I’m adding before and after photos of what I did to raise my lights as high as I can.

ClandestineWestOz Bro, damn they are at the top of your side inspection opening, looking awesome!

ClandestineWestOz Wanna see these light raising pics 👍

Widdows420 @clandestine posted!

Plants are getting huge! Worried they might be getting too close to the lights but it’s too late now I guess. But overall they are healthy and thriving so I’m content. Thinking I might add a second net to hold them down. Is that a bad idea?

Ryikk

Ryikk I had to double net mine. The light penetration becomes an issue when you do so you have to make sure you are getting light down to the lower areas.

ClandestineWestOz Examples like yours and Ryikk’s grows are what proves that hydro (NFT, DWC, RDWC etc) kicks any soil/coco grows arse any day of the week in terms of explosive growth.

Ryikk

Ryikk Yeah I have been pretty happy with it honestly

PH: 6.0 TDS: 1850 Temp: 70.7° Couple days into flower. Recovered well from scrogging. Still growing fast!

Ryikk

Ryikk Better get that net in there and start training them. Careful not to snap anything

Day: 39

PH: 5.9 TDS: 1480 Temp: 69.6° It’s been smooth sailing! Wish time would go by faster!

Ryikk

Ryikk Looking good 👍🏼

Widdows420 @ryikk Looking for your opinion on when I should flip. I don’t want things to get out of control if I flip too late

Ryikk

Ryikk 3 weeks. That is my plan. My last grow I had that vacation and it caused me to extend Veg to like 4-5 weeks and it was out of hand. Keep in mind they will keep growing when you flip them

Ryikk Looking good. My new clones are taking a bit longer to come along but good news is my light arrived and holy hell is it bright. Next grow starting soon

Widdows420 You went with HLG 550 right? I wanted to tell you some exciting news. Got hired as a grower for a new grow being built. I’m advising for them and part time helping in the grow. But it’s an hours drive so maybe once a week I’ll check on it. Going to be a small 90 plant operation until the new building is finished. Then we will expand to 1000 plants! I’ll send some pictures when I get some.

Widdows420 in-line fan and filter arrived today. Duct tomorrow. Installing soon!

Ph: 5.8 TDS: 1680 Temp: 66.0° Did some light grooming today. Talked with the girls a little bit. Things are moving right along, picked up advanced nutrients 2 part Sensi bloom and grow system as well as cal mag. Was showing signs of mag deficiency which is common. Fan/filter/duct combo could finally be ordered. Thank god. Will be installed on Tuesday. I plan on venting outside, so it should stay cooler in the room. I can finally stop worrying about it.

PH: 5.8 TDS: 438 Temp: 68.0°F Things are really taking off! They are doing very well and I added root development pictures. Added about 4 gals of water today. It’s still cold outside so I have a window cracked letting some air come in which is keeping the temperature spikes while I’m at work at bay. They were getting as high as 89° and that’s why I’m getting leaf curl. It’s been staying solid around 70s since then.

ClandestineWestOz Stats look great mate I’m glad you sorted out the high temp problem.

Widdows420 @clandestinewestoz come payday this week I’m going to try and pick up the 4in AC Infinity in-line fan. Then I’m going to vent into my attic. Hopefully that will completely fix the heat issue.

Day: 20

PH: 6.1 TDS: 518 Temp: 76°F Looking nice and healthy! Curious about some curling at the leaf tips. No discoloration but seems odd. Keeping an eye on it. @ryikk looking into getting that auto top off system. Do you have pictures of it hooked up that I can see?

Ryikk

Ryikk I can get those for you. And can also get you a link to the system I bought. It’s from the same company that I bought the RO System. I had curling in my leaves before and they fixed themselves so let’s see what it does the next few days.

ClandestineWestOz That is heat curl and one of my plants got the same thing. The leaf is curling to protect its surface from overexposure to the light (heat).

ClandestineWestOz Yours doesn’t look so bad as mine got.

PH: 6.0 TDS: 495 Temp: 72.7°F Picked up some Advanced Nutrients ph up and down. Finally have everything dialed in exactly where I want it. Except temperature. Both air and water temperatures I have been struggling to control. I know I need ventilation in the tent to vent heat out and I still need to insulate the buckets from radiant heat in the tent. I’ve done okay so far by not letting them get wildly out of control but I want to keep the range much tighter and controlled. Just a money issue delaying those purchases. I decided to follow a Fox Farm nute schedule.

Widdows420 I went half strength on the big bloom btw. TDS was in range of schedule so I held off.

Day: 17

+1

PH: 7.0 TDS: 294 Temp: 72.2°F Put my air stones in the buckets finally. Just in time because I finally see roots poking through! PH went down by itself. Hydro store is open tomorrow so it’ll have to wait one more day.

Widdows420 Added my humidifier in the room also, as you can see it’s been pretty dry. Should see results in a few hours.

Ryikk

Ryikk Few more days and they should be off to the races. They will be getting all that good food then

Widdows420 @ryikk bought my ph down right before I went into work today, how much should I start with adding? First time adjusting for ph.

Day: 15

PH: 6.7 TDS: 797 Temp: 73°F No picture update today, was very busy preparing for my water swap to RO. Got my drum filled up which took all morning and bought a cheap bung siphon pump. Busy weekend ahead! The label is from the old contents of the barrel. Ignore that. I got this barrel for free from my place of work.

Widdows420 Next step: enlisting my friends to get this out of my truck haha

Ryikk

Ryikk I was gonna say...that’s like 450 pounds hahaha

Widdows420 As long as we don’t drop it and burst the barrel I’m fine. Haha

Day: 14

PH: 6.7 PPM: 807 Temp: 74.7°F Picked up my combo meter today! Feels good to know my stats for the first time. Learned a lot about where I’m at currently. Ph is a little high according to what I’ve researched but let me know what you think is a good ph. It’s not out of range to be specific but it can be brought down a little. PPMs aren’t out of control but too high IMO for this early stage of growth. I’m going to try and dilute tomorrow to bring it down. Bought a 55 gal drum and I’m going to get it filled up with RO water from a local shop here in town. Then I’ll swap out the water. Running hose water right now! Haha I know. But you gotta start somewhere.

Ryikk

Ryikk Might as well bite the bullet and buy an RO system and if you have a 55g drum filled with water just beware it’s gonna weigh 450lbs. I have a 35 gallon trash can for top off and I fill it via 5g buckets that are filled with my RO setup. I’ll get a link for the one I run.

Ryikk

Ryikk https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-ro-only-system-75gpd-2.html Plus the DI add-on https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/single-deionization-canister.html

Ryikk

Ryikk Your ph is too high. You want it in the 5.5-6.5 range. So aim for 6.0 and learn how your parameters drift between water changes. The water...gotta get off that hose water, the TDS in two water will throw off your measurements. RO water has a TDS of 0. Tap water can be as high as 350+. With 0 TDS in veg I would be putting maybe 600TDS in nutes in.

Ryikk https://m.lowes.com/pd/Reflectix-R-21-33-3-sq-ft-Unfaced-Reflective-Roll-Insulation-16-in-W-x-25-ft-L/1014123 So after I started mine I bought a roll of this stuff and cut it to size where I covered the tops of the containers while having a cutout for the baskets. This helped with light in the beginning stages. Figured I would share.

Widdows420 Hey @ryikk sorry it’s been a busy few days I haven’t been able to post a good update or check comments! Working on one now. I definitely am going to go pick some of that reflective stuff up this weekend

Day: 12

Transplanted 3 more today! 3 Sour cheese and the 1 Stardawg is in the front right corner. Still working on temperature control so be nice about my stats picture. Fans to remove heat will be installed in a few days. Until then I’ve done some unconventional things to moderate temperature.

Day: 11

Transplanted 1 seedling into the tent on Sunday for practice. Going to keep an eye on it to make sure I did it right. I have been top feeding it to help the roots stay wet while they get settled into their new home. Big day coming soon! Stay tuned

Ryikk

Ryikk You weren’t kidding, looks like you found the same totes I used even 😉

Widdows420 @ryikk Costco card holder too! Haha

Ryikk

Ryikk Hahaha yup! Great containers at an awesome price. I just t done scrubbing my setup down and am running H2O2 Water in it to sanitize. I’ll drain tonight and then I’m re-cloning the northern Lights so I can all 4 as NL

Wanted to show off my hard work on the hydroponic system I built with @ryikk help. This is what I will be rocking for this grow

Ryikk

Ryikk Give me a breakdown of how you ran your pipes. Looks slightly different so just curious the ins and outs

Widdows420 I work evenings so I can’t take more pictures right now but I will. Check back tomorrow I’ll post them when I get home around around 1am central time. I promise you did a much better job than me but after this first grow I’m going to cut it apart and install disconnects so I can take it out like you did. My laziness decided to glue the PVC in the tent so it’s stuck in there right now. 75% lazy 25% really tight budget.

Widdows420 The reservoir is right on the other side following those two pipes out. The 3/4 inch pipe is the return to my water pump. The 2 in pipe is going from reservoir to that first bucket you see connected. Then it flows from bucket to bucket via 2in until the last bucket where I made that return.

PresaCanario Nice, I’m interested to see lec315 in flower. I read it produces higher quality bud then hps and can yield a pound per light with the right genetics grown properly.

Widdows420 @presacanario yeah I’m excited as well, this is my first run using this type of light.

Day: 1

Noticed some seeds had already popped this morning. Nothing poking its head out but we have progress!
