Rona Grow
Spring 2020
Planted 5 gelato seedlings, and 5 D.O.G. First time grower and I learn from my mistakes. Do not expect much if anything from this crop but hoping for the best. 5x6x6 greenhouse total 10 plants. Growing DOG and Gelato side by side. 2 LED shop lights 42w on timer set to 19 hours on 5 off. Started with only two incandescent bulbs for heat, in metal domes. These lights and chilly New England weather didn’t help give these plants a good start. Slow growth, and stretching became issues. Realized and added lights. Also extended hours to 19 on 5 off. Using home blend of potting soil, and garden soil, hey works great for my tomatoes!

Sleepy1359 How long do you keep the banana in the water
Sleepy1359 And is it warm or cold water
Magz84 I kept the peel in the water for 36 hours before using it. 3/4 cup per gallon of water once a week. The water was warm when I put the peel in, and I let it sit in the sun for a half day.

Getting red stems, fixing ph in water with apple cider vinegar. 1/5 tsp with 2.5 gal water and set. Also adjusting my NPK with some new nutes, and seemed happier this morning.

Progressing slowly, but I personally think LST is going really well. Stems are strong enough to hold the plant up even when pulling it over like this. Set the lights to 16”, and adjusting the ph better starting next water.

Gelato and DOG finally showing real growth with the right water and light. Trust common sense and past experiences. Little LST on 9 plants. Leaving healthiest gelato alone to grow.

Getting bigger. Still watering till surface is moist, and no more being careful not to overwater. Was told all they need is a little spray but concerned that isn’t enough.

Day: 5
STRETCHING! Was told by an “experienced grower” at this time it’s normal. Leave it alone. Didn’t realize for a few more daze that this is a sign of low light. Need to move lights closer or add light. Changed light out to a single 42W led white shop light at a height of 26 inches and this helped a great deal.
