Pilot grow

Summer 2019

One cheese and one Northern Lights grown in coco 70/30 to perlite. 7 Gal smart Pots. Mega Crop nutrients. 3x3x7. May add PK booster/ Cal Mag if I start to see deficiencies with the Mega Crop 1 part nutrient later on. Starting at 25% of recommended strength and will increase by 25% if I notice deficiencies in the lower leaves.

Day: 82

Not where I wanted them to be but they’re growing. Didn’t properly prepare the coco coir. Didn’t wash out the coco peat through a colander and didn’t buffer twice with calmag @7-7.5ml/gal for 8 hours. Also need to raise the pots off of the ground so the roots don’t get too cold. VPD is on target. I’m @ 60% RH 75°F temps drop significantly @ night so need to correct that, as well.

Day: 35

Northern Lights didn’t make it. Note to self: take off humidity dome after day 2. Spray once or twice a day LIGHTLY with r/o water and leave it alone. I believe the humidity was just too high and the leaves weren’t able to transpire properly, reference vapor pressure deficit. This made the first set of true leaves shrivel up and dry even though there was sufficient moisture. At least Cheese made it and is thriving at Day 35. Definitely slower than I expected. A lot slower than I expected actually. Not a bad pilot grow, though!

Day: 5

The plants are getting their first set of true leaves coming in. This is day 3 from sprouting. Originally got a seed starter container from a hardware store for $3. The seedlings were starting to stretch and bend at the top of the dome so I cut the top of a large water bottle off and slid it over both cubes. To give them space to stretch upwards.

Day: 4

Currently about an inch tall started in root riot cubes. 18/6 light cycle. Temps are about 79°F with RH 56% but dome has been sprayed as well as the seedlings. Adding a humidifier once it outgrows the starter dome
