Very first grow
Summer
My very first grow is now officially underway! Planted these seeds 3 days ago directly into Jiffy peat pots. I was and still am a bit concerned I planted too shallow. All but 2 are popping through. I see seeds still attached so I suppose the next 48 hours will be interesting.

Here’s my White Widow on day 40 of flower. Is she starting to foxtail? Oh I hope not. She is full of buds and they all look like this. (Outdoor grow in Living Soil)
Peng I’ve grown a white widow auto before and had foxtailing, when I looked it up apparently it’s pretty common on a white widow
Peng I don’t think there’s anything inherently bad about it
Peng If you can rule out the usual environmental factors like too much light or heat it’s probably genetic and I wouldn’t worry about it.

Day: 120
Seedsman hybrid Cream and Cheese Photo has grown beyond my expectations! (First grow ever) I have 2 of these and 2 White Widow Photos. Started at same time, same conditions, (outdoor organic grow) and the cream and cheese looks beautiful! I cannot wait to try these gorgeous buds - this hybrid is a mix of thc and CBD. According to Seedman should be about 50/50 and at a high concentration. ☀️ would love to here if anyone else has grown this strain?!

Any comments are appreciated! First time grower, outdoor living soil, autos, I believe I’m nearing harvest and just not sure. Trichomes are cloudy?? (Do u think) still have some healthy white pistols though. Am I there? Or almost. I’ve read so much online I’m doubting everything now. Purple Haze here.

First harvest ever! Am I there or almost there?? I’ve read so much that I am now doubting myself! I think the trichomes are cloudy - do u? All comments welcomed. Purple Haze auto - outdoor living soil grow

DracoBEBO The first picture I def see some cloudy, but the light can play tricks on you. I would recommend a scope/loupe that lets you see closer. I’d also look for some ambers. Don’t see em. I Would think you need to wait.
Mystrain420-@eaegifts Go by bud trichs not leaf, leafs turn first leading to early harvest.
mimisflower Thank you! I think I’m getting close!

This is my Purple Haze Auto that fox tailed quite a bit. Discovered mold on the top bud- gave her a good trim. She is an outdoor grow in living soil. We’ve had some very hot and humid days. Lessons to learn nearly every day!
hem-p Great job growing 💯 but examine the bud in the lower left corner for mold, that white fuzzy area looks like it.
mimisflower You are right! This is the piece I cut out. Wanted to share to show what it looks like 👍🏼 Bringing my girls in every night now bc the heat and humidity are so bad.
Day: 75
So I found some moldy rot this morning on a couple of my autos :(. Had to cut these out. The challenges of growing outdoors when the weather is wacky!
DracoBEBO Do you cover the plants when it rains? I will be doing my first outdoors soon.
mimisflower So i usually pulled them under my awning after they got a good drink of rain… until last week! Got lazy and left them out. It was a soaking wet day and damp couple evenings. I learned my lesson. Won’t do that again. These little autos are easy enough to carry inside or under the awning! I haven’t kept track of inches of rainfall either. I am doing that from now on!
DracoBEBO Ok nice. Any advice and experience is appreciated. I am going to transition 4 outside at week 4. But I will have a greenhouse for them, to move them into on rainy or windy days. Used to do indoor hydro years back. Now doing soil, and trying some in, and some outdoors. Going to see how the work out. Temps for the part of the year they are going outside in should be ideal.

When your outdoor autos become indoor autos at night because the humidity is just too high outside (86%). So imagine what my family room is smelling like about now! It’s worth it - I can’t risk moldy buds. NY Diesel - Purple Haze - Northern Lights.

I have 2 out of 5 plants whose buds just look way different. This is one of them. Purple haze auto. I’m guessing something went wrong? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated
3 years ago
24/0veg It might just be different phenotypes. Are the other plants smaller or something ?
Plantnation More pictures would be helpful. If grown from a seed it’s going to look different for sure.
mimisflower Size is similar but buds look different compared to her sis. I just posted how beautiful her sis looks. This is my first grow and feel a bit inept in knowing what the buds look as they progress. Especially when 2 of the strains look different. I’ll see if I can add more detailed pics. Here the calyxes are much larger with little to no white pistols.

LordBraso Pay attention to the foxtailing…
mimisflower Yes! I believe I have a couple other plants that are foxtailing way more than this. These are outdoor grows and the heat & humidity a few weeks ago was terrible - much better now. I’ve tried to learn about it but all examples I see are extremes - do you know how foxtailing affects the buds? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
LordBraso The only major thing that does is the change aspect of the bud, it’s not a big issue it’s just the form of the nugs that are different, smell and other stuff remain the same…

These flowers look different form her Purple haze auto sis. Is it me or is there something off here. Is it Hermed and I missed earlier signs? I can’t figure out how to add multiple pics.

GrassHopper Select the journal you want to add a second picture to and there should be a little photos icon in the top right corner
Day: 60
Another image of my Purple Haze Auto. Her flowers look different from her sisters. Am I liking too hard or is there something not right about these flowers. Not as many white pistols as her sis either and nor am I seeing the e purple like I can on her sister. Any help would be very much appreciated!

pjizzle Maybe n is higher the it could be since u have a lot of leafy growth but that’s just a guess … I only grow photos
mimisflower Because it’s my first grow I really do not know what to expect as the flowers grow. Such a learning process! I wish I could find a good and thorough source that would provide images of the many stages of a grow. But I suppose different strains flowers may look different as they fully develop??
TheElusive420 I believe it might the seeds genetics

Blazin Fiend Did it grow into this like does it have 3 bud sites and they grow and become one ?
mimisflower Actually I think it’s going to have a pretty good size cola. The preflower/flowers have all now “connected” on the cola. This is my first grow and my girls keep amazing me on how they grow.

Day: 50
NY Diesel auto. She’s developing a very nice amount of flowers but I’m a little concerned that the new growth is too yellow - it is more yellow than her sis. I know yellow may indicate low nitrogen but also thought we move away from nitrogen supplements when in flower. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Mystrain420-@eaegifts Low nitrogen starts at the bottom with the yellowing. Check the deficiency/toxicity chart online, I saw someone mention recently too much P too soon does this. I noticed my girls are usually like this tho when they wake up but go darker Throughout the day 🤷🏾
mimisflower Thank you! I’m using living soil with a clover cover crop so I do t really supplement per se. I will say though she is larger than her sis and with more leaves. Seems like she is producing more leaves and flowers. I’ll check out the deficiency chart and update.
Mystrain420-@eaegifts I been reading on it and I’m thinking iron deficiency. I increased my calmag and plan to make a aact focused on micronutrients. Hope this helps and please lmk if you find a different cause

My purple haze auto - it seems as if these flowers are growing right before my eyes thanks to some flower power from Natures Living Soil. Keeping a close watch on them as the heat is intense today. Luckily their in pots so I can move them as I need to. Looking forward to better temps in a couple days.

Day: 32
So after looking at my outdoor girls this morning I saw something new. Ugh. I did catch a teeny inchworm and was able to identify it but I also found these leaf markings Wondering if anyone knows what could have caused this. I plan on using need neem oil spray for the inchworms. Wondering if they caused this or something else????
Swanson4:21pm Thrips and leaf tunneler possibly
locker105 The white dots look like spider mites to me but I am by no means 100% on that. Check the bottom part of the leaves and if there are tiny black dots on them then those are definitely spider mite eggs and u gotta kill that infestation.
mimisflower Thank you so much for responding! After much closer investigation I found all the things we don’t want to find. After major trimming off infested leaves I will be neem oil spraying at dusk. I am going to post pics of my leaves to share with others

herbhorder No white pistols? Banana shaped? Male unfortunately
mimisflower It has some small white pistols at the very top node. So Hermed? I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised this plant was stunted from the beginning and way behind the others.
herbhorder That could be a possibility too maybe quarantine it to make sure? If not I’d start over 🙃😩

Just like that I found an infestation of some tunneler (tiny light green bug) and some sort of inch worm. I just gave them an ugly trim. I’ll neem oil tonight and hope for the best. Just wondering how many of you outdoor growers routinely neem oil regardless if u see any pests? I am wishing I would have 😩
3 years ago
nicedude69 Just came across this post, I’m a first time outdoor grower as well. Ive found some little bugs on the plant but not consistently or too many. But I have a white spot on one or two of the lower leaves. Understand your frusturation
mimisflower I’m going to make neem oil spray a routine - I wish I would have before I found these. I love e idea of growing outside and without chemicals - and this first grow will be a huge learning process. Glad to be in good company here!
Day: 30
Outdoor growers what to do when the forecast is cloudy and chance of thunderstorms every f’n day for the next 7 days? Just carried all my girls up 2 flights of stairs so they can sit on my upstairs balcony hoping there is more “light” (cloudy daylight) and to quickly move inside for stormy weather.

Day: 10
Lemon auto - so I started these girls directly in their forever home - 3 gallon cloth pot from vivosun using living soil. First time using this brand of cloth pot btw. I’m concerned about the green algae/whatever it is on the bottom. It’s happening to all three. I did not have this happen on my black cloth pots. Any insight would be appreciated. Do I need to transplant them out of these?? I did move them today to a place where air can circulate on the bottom.
Prodigy I've never seen that but my cloth pots are black so I probably wouldn't. I'm assuming it's a nutes or mineral build up next time you water do a 10% run off if you think it's hurting your grow. If it is Algae you can clean it on the outside of the pot, there's some articles on Google about it.
Day: 6
Started these lemon autos outside directly in soil. They look quite satisfied and so am I! I started my first seedlings grow inside under lights in peer pots - did not like how they stretched. These are looking so much better!

My very first grow! Planted a smorgasbord of seeds 3 days ago and they are beginning to pop through, little concerned I planted to shallow. I can see seeds are still attached. Time will tell I suppose.
combatmedic81 Shells will eventually fall off
moneymike1983 Don’t worry about shallow. The roots will dig down. Now it’s all about your lighting and not over watering til you hit early vegetation stages.
mimisflower Thank you for encouraging words! Omg I’m excited and crazy nervous at the same time. Planted 10 thinking 5 maybe 6 would germinate. Now I see all 10 at last have sprouted. This will be quite the journey! 🌱
