Day: 66

+1

Sad news guys just found out today, that this grow is indeed a male, but at least the Durban gold supposedly looks like a female for now I hope. I’m chopping it down and disposing of it immediately.

Day: 65

Flower

***MAJOR UPDATE*** It’s been 3 days since I spoke with a pro who is used to doing many grows with the pyramids, and he told me that I broke the first rule, which was never use nutrients at full strength, IK rookie move, my fault. It’s been so long since the shift from hydroponics to the pyramids has been a learning curve. That explains the nutrient burn so what i ended up doing was dumping out the last couple gallons of nutrients, cleaned out the res and filled it up with 10 gallons of water and I let my air bubbler agitate it for two days and then I pH treated it. (we are in the sweet spot of 6.2) From there I used RO water to flush out the pyramids and waited until the blocks dried out, so they would be ready for the next feeding Which is today. So I took the pros advice and ended up using 1/2 strength for bloom, and in the future use 1/4 strength for veg & use my judgment to see if I need to bump it up to 1/2 strength. I know it’s not looking good right now, but everything so far has worked in my favor I believe because I left the fan leaves on that we’re getting yellow/brown with the curved tips so the bud sites wouldn’t be affected. I defoliated what little I could without stressing out the plant too much while it’s “drinking”, and Lolipopped, the next step will be to get the trellis net up soon if I can but hopefully it’ll bounce back with the added supplements of Cal mag in a bloom booster along with the recalibrated have strength nutrients in here they are below. NECTAR OF THE GODS: 1/2 STRENGTH Medusa’s Magic = 50mL Gaia Mania = 50mL Herculean Harvest = 25mL Zeus Juice = 25mL SUPPLEMENTS/BOOSTERS: 1/2 STRENGTH CalMag (Bloom Phase) = 15mL Technaflora Awesome Blossoms = 12.5mL Hydroguard = 20mL (FULL STRENGTH) Great White = 1 Scoop (FULL STRENGTH) CURRENT RESERVOIR NUTE SETTINGS: pH = 6.21 PPM = 1070 Temp = 76 RH = 56.5% VPD = 1.31 kPa My fingers are crossed and I can tell the plants were thirsty bc I can hear crackling noises while watering

Day: 59

Flower

The plants are drinking a lot more now, and it has been decided instead of tomorrow today will be the day to move to flowering.(12:12 schedule) I am shy of day 60, but 59 days is good enough. I will be adding a little bit of a stronger nutrient solution since the leaves are starting to show some sort of deficiency in a lighter color, and not the burnt tips. Plus, I will be adding some blooming nutrients for the flower.

Day: 55

I will probably switch over to a 12 hour lighting schedule in about 10 days but it might go a little longer so the other plant (Durban gold) can catch up. It seems that diluting the nutes seem to have a good effect on this plant so far will defoliate the younger plant soon.

LeChron James Durban Gold sounds wonderful

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell It does. But I’m not feeling how it’s growing. I haven’t even topped it bc I thought it was an auto. But spoke with the seller and was made aware that they’re indeed photos

LeChron James

LeChron James You could top it now, leave it in veg for a week, and see if the lower branches stretch up to the canopy. That would be a safe approach. She looks beautiful. Lateral branching and node spacing are really good. Wish I could reach into my phone and steal a cutting:)

Day: 50

Did some light defoliation and use the LST clips on the bud sites to move them out into the light. So far I think this plant is about to bounce back. Another thing I’m going to do for the refilling of the reservoir (currently have 4-5 gallons left) to prevent nute burn is that I’m just going to fill it with RO water and it should dilute the nutes and just add more hydroguard and Great White Mycorrhizae (since I read, it’s inert it won’t hurt the growth)

Day: 48

It’s been 6 days since it’s been topped. Chickened out doing the LST since it’s pretty far along IMO. (But I have put a clip at the topped site to see if anything happens when it does decide to grow again?) So far there has been no growth. Its been stagnant so I’m assuming that would be from the topping. Hopefully it recovers from the topping and starts to grow again?

newgrower13

newgrower13 LST and defoliate and you will get more tops.

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell I’m nervous about damaging the apical branch it’s very thick. But I do agree on the defoliation. I’ll get started on it Tomm

newgrower13

newgrower13 I feel you , it does happen. I would still do it but slowly and after watering. But I don’t blame you for not

Day: 43

QUICK QUICK UPDATE: I’ve topped the plant 2 days ago and my LST clips came in from Etsy. Since I’m not sure what I’m doing I put the clips on the branches that look like they’ll have flowers to get out of the foliage and exposed to some light. I tried to put a clip on the main apical branch and chickened out. Hope I didn’t damage anything and it should bounce back? (I hope). As of right now I’m out of my comfort zone but having fun learning as I go. If anyone has any input please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m half excited/half concerned at this point. :-/

adders

adders Still looks good I think, seems to have darkened a little

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell Thank you! I feel like I should’ve done LST earlier. The apical branch is THICK. So I’m just doing my best to tuck the flower/bud stems out in the light

adders

adders Yeah it might’ve been a tidy idea, start it when she starts getting thick at first veg wise maybe ? I’m not too clued up on LST and stuff at the moment but will definitely be looking into it more over the next few crops. Where did you get your clips from too ?

Day: 41

QUICK UPDATE: Finally did my research. Counted 6 nodes. And topped. We’ll see how this goes as this is my first time topping an auto. Another thing I’m looking forward to is the LST clips I’ve ordered off Etsy. I’ll wait a few days for the plant to bounce back before putting on the clips.

adders

adders What did you find about topping autos ? Most people I’ve spoken to have recommended just leaving them be for a lot of their growth even just a link or something if you cba to write it out

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell It’s a split decision but decided to try it out since I’ve never done that before and “why not” I combed through many videos off YouTube.

adders

adders Ah right okay, I always forget YouTube exists 😅 looks good though man 😃

Day: 38

So far the plant seems to have bounced back, especially with the tips that were being slightly discolored. Are now not receding any more on the leaf. The plant is now taking in more water and the growth is about to start exponentially. I am currently waiting for LST clips to come in by next week so I can start the training I am still doing research. I am not sure when to top they usually say after 4 to 5 nodes but I’m currently sitting at four (nodes) i think. I’ll wait until the LST clips get in to have a better field of you once everything is set.

GrNadeGrade 💣

GrNadeGrade 💣 It’s seems based on your journal, you were almost at the minimum requisite nodes at day 26. So at day 38, although your plant 🌱 is bushy, which makes it somewhat difficult to count nodes, I think it safe to assume that 12 days later you’d have more than 5-6 nodes by now…imo

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell Ty! I should be. I just hope I don’t mess up anything. Since I’ve never done LST before and I’m thinking about topping too just to try it out.

GrNadeGrade 💣

GrNadeGrade 💣 Imo…you should ‘Top’ first, to give lower branches time to catch-up to apical branch. You can LST a few days after the plant has recouped from ‘Topping’. Just remember…there are multiple ways to approach this.

Day: 32

It’s been six days with this one and I’m just concerned about the tips being discolored maybe it might be nutrient lockout or it could be the light being too low I’m not too sure. Another thing that has me concerned is that the pyramid has some sort of I guess salt or white color on it. I’m not sure what, and I’m going to attribute it to being may be the salts from the solution. Either way we’re going to figure this out and maybe I’ll make the next batch of the solution to be half strength and see what happens from there. If anybody else sees this, maybe they could give me their two cents and see what may be causing this ??

tomclancy

tomclancy Looks like a small amount of nute burn. Most of mine look like this by mid flower. If it gets any worse I would cut the nutes back.

tomclancy

tomclancy Never seen these pyramids before. What is it?

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell Ty! I think I’m gonna cute the nutes in half since I made the solution for a 13 gallon trash can with a bubbler. I’m still trying to learn this eazy plug pyramid. (It’s self regulating for moisture)

Day: 26

Raise the light up some so the leaves don’t get burned. So far everything is looking OK I’m planning on trying to do LST when appropriate.

Day: 21

So I just found out that using these ez plug blocks and pyramids, the plant will experience some transplant shock, so it’s not quite full-proof as they say. As you can see here, it’s been the next day and the plant is back to normal, and even with the darker shade of green, so that tells me that the nutrients in the root system is actually working very well . I am trying not to use the oscillating fan as much on the block which will dry it out quicker as the plant is still establishing a new route system throughout the pyramid. So the fan is aimed towards the wall and hopefully at a certain angle that it should bounce back and help the plant establish a strong stem throughout. And a humidifier is helping the blocks in retaining the moisture. I’ve gotten the Reservoir under control since I mixed the nutes at full strength and was concerned that the air stone bubbler was making everything bubble out. This was resolved by turning down the air stone a little bit and now the reservoir is under control. I might implement the refrigeration unit if anything else comes up but I think for right now we will watch and see what happens.

Day: 19

Transplant day! First grow in 3 years since I breeded a couple strains. Had to really clean the grow room and rethink my approach to this grow. Instead of using straight hydro (RDWC). Did my due diligence and decided to use the EZ Plug Pyramid this grow. Rapid Rooter/EZ Plug Block->Pyramid. Finally switched over to nutrient soln (from Zero Water filter) that will be manually watered every 3-8 days 10GAL Reservoir: Hydroguard 2ml/gal = 20ml GW Mycorrhizae 5ml/10gal = 1 scoop Nectar of the Gods: Medusa’s Magic 10ml/gal =100ml Gaia Mania 10ml/gal =100ml Herculean Harvest 5ml/gal = 50ml Zeus Juice 5ml/gal = 50ml

GrNadeGrade

GrNadeGrade Very unique growing method. What exactly does this style induce/benefits?

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell This is supposed to combine the best key components of soil and hydro grow. After doing extensive research on a roll it up, blog forum post, the small community there has used the blocks and have shown to produce bigger yields as well as the block being self regulating (there’s no way you can overwater it) and it can retain as much moisture/nutes as it needs and you’ll know when it needs to be watered by when it dries out. They need to be watered Every 8 to 10 days depending on how much the plant is drinking and what stage is in.

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell And supposedly it grows quicker as well.
