When do I clip stuff down??

Need some help please

I’m very new to this and I saw sometimes people on here will tie branches or leaves down helping the plant grow better. Should I do this and when? Any suggestions what I should be doing right now. Just been watering with a distilled water every few days that’s it. Any help is greatly appreciated please.
