Day 81 (Week 12)
21 updates
58 photos
Day: 81
Into the flush. Budding up nicely considering the early flower brought on by the back to back days of light shock. Dense and very sticky buds. Nice spicy/minty aroma. Autopots have tuned out to be a dud compared to plain old felt pots and top watering. Perhaps it is the soil mix, nutrients or something as simple as my wrongly gauging when they were ready to transition from top water to auto. In any event, the plants are producing 50-60% less overall and they look sickly. There will be a two container Autopot XL system going up for sale pretty soon, cheap.

Day: 75
In the final stretch. They’re a little scraggly. TBH, I was hoping for some denser plants but the mix I had forced me to move the light faster than I preferred. Nevertheless, we will get some tasty bud of these ladies regardless.

Day: 55
Stretchy plants compared to the G13. Way more sativa characteristics in this strain than expected but still happy and thriving.

Day: 53
A little premature but have had to put the plants into flower since we had a full day power outage that left them in the dark for 4 hours and, of course, I forgot to reset the timer afterwards so the next day brought another few hours of darkness. Oh well. We’ve begun the bloom and they don’t seem to mind.

Day: 48
Mother is now 21” tall now. Will have to move her into her own tent soon. #2 and #3 are doing much better now that my PH is sorted out (faulty PH meter had me watering with <6.0. Have been using well water for the past week and all seem happy with it although I’m seeing some odd bright yellow spots (see photos) so I don’t know if it may be some mineral issue?

Day: 41
We’re into full veg now. Adjusted PH, nutrient and watering and they all seem to be thriving. I’ll take them out of the tent for an hour tomorrow and give it a good cleaning.

Day: 36
Mother seems happy...a tip or two pointed don but colour is good and growth is crazy. #2 and #3 must have had some root troubles. Realized just yesterday that my PH meter was nearly 2 points (4.3) off...surprised I didn’t kill them all but we caught it and onto bigger and better yields.

Day: 34
Growth and colour is good but am getting some leaf curl and a touch of discolouration. Also cleaned up a bit of the fan leaves to air out the stems.

Day: 31
Our Mother is quickly outgrowing her 3 gallon pot...will probably pot up this weekend. #2 is filling out but not producing the same kind of fan spread as #1. #3 is recovering from I Italy shock and sill turn out fine but similar grow pattern to #2. All factors but the pots being the same, felt pots =1, Autopot = 0.

Day: 29
Everything seems to be going ok. My mother is outpacing the others by nearly a week, I estimate, so there is some debate as to wether Autopots or felt pots wok better all other factors, aside from the actual seeds, being the same. Nevertheless, with temps running between 72 and 76F and RH between 40-65%...the extraction fan has started coming on occasionally these past couple of days indicating that temps are rising overall.

Day: 25
#1 is just going gangbusters and she is going to make a beautiful mother. Not sure if the felt pot is giving her the advantage over the two in Autopot. They all have the same soil, water, light regimen. I’ll have to do a soil test and see what’s u with #3. Almost 4 weeks in, she should be doing better...my 7 day old autos are outpacing her. Adjusted the light down to 18”...still on 19/5 cycle. Temps have been stable but humidity has been high (mid 60s) in the morning so I may have to figure out how to balance that a bit better. Otherwise, very happy so far!

Day: 22
A couple of happy plants and one that seems to be on the mend. Good times in the new tent.

Day: 19
One of us is really enjoying the soil, light and nutrients! Lol. Nice to see some significant growth this week (at least to me). We’re getting into the 3rd set of leaves on both healthier plants and, still, they are sprouting these tri-leafs. Have yet to find images of similar stories stance in other plants. Would love to see some photos if you have them. Today is a dry day for all 3. Tomorrow, we’ll see about feeding. 75.6F 63RH.

Day: 18
Two of the plants are doing well. The third is struggling a bit but has good color and seems spunky still so I’m drying her out and extra day since it had been sitting in a bit of runoff. I gave the other 2 a proper soak with nutes and they seem to be loving life. Also started a Canuk Auto Fem Cheese this morning to prep for outdoors. 75.4F 58RH.

Day: 16
Strange leaves on 2 of the seedlings and the 3rd seems to be struggling a bit. Will start a mild nutrient regimen when my pots dry out a bit in a day or two since I gave them a soak 2 days ago. A hint of burn on the tip of two leaves...not sure yet if it’s related to light, nutrients or water but it’s part of the learning process. Picked up some Emerald Harvest Cali Feed A B and CalMag for this grow. 73.7F. 54%.

Some strange leaves on this one specimen.

Day: 8
Seedlings are starting to stretch. About 1.5” tall now with good healthy colour. They don’t seem to mind the Viparspectra Veg spectrum. The soil in all 3 pots had gone dry to a depth of 3” so I gave them all a soak to run off. That should hold them through the weekend with a cup top up on Saturday. Let the pots drip out and I will come empty the trays in an hour. Temp was 75.6F with 48% RH. As a side note, being new to cannabis cultivation and indoor grow tent culture, I’m gradually coming to grips putting theory to practice. Maintaining the environment is an actual challenge. I don’t know why I expected it to be somehow “automatic” in the sense that if you throw a bit of money at your setup and have all the recommended pieces it should just kind of all dial itself in. But you know, it’s an interesting project maintaining this ecosystem. Much different than from growing outdoors. Negative pressure. Light spectrum, height, cycles and intensity. Humidity and heat and ventilation and filters. It’s been keeping me engaged and occupied these past few weeks and that has been helping enormously. Cheers!

Day: 7
Switched the little darlings from CFL to blurple (Viparspectra 600w on veg mode @ 30in) today and set a fan on low for some exercise. All 3 had a little soak (about half a cup). Temp s 73F with 51RH. Not much activity otherwise.

Day: 7
First set of leaves fanned on #1, nearly on #2 and first pair on #3. 19/5 cycle. No nutrients, just plain distilled water at 6.3. Current temp 73.6F with 47%RH. Fed them a cup each today.

Day: 6
Moved 3rd seedling to pot today. Hasn’t shrugged it’s husk yet and taproot was only a 1/4 inch out of the bottom of the Rapid Rooter but was concerned about leaving it another full day in the tray on the heat mat. All three got about 1/4 cup to drink - distilled. Current temp is 73.6F and 42RH. CFL 6400k (1x250 and 2 x 100).

Day: 5
Seeds have sprouted after 2 days in napkin/ziploc/paper bag technique from Neil on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/266513260) since he seems pretty legit. I didn’t ‘t do the overnight water soak prior to placing in the napkin which was wrung from wet to damp. I wasn’t used to the ziploc bag so I felt like the napkin wasn’t drying out fast enough so I went straight to plates on the second night. By next morning, I was worried I had let t dry out too much but had small taps on each of them some popped them straight into some premoistened rapid rooters. Placed the rapid rooters in tray with lid and thermo mat on day 3. A seed sprouted each day afterwards so that, on day 6, we have 3 sprouts (1-2 inches). Sprout 3 hasn’t shed it’s husk yet so I left it in the tray overnight. The other 2 had tap roots trailing 2-3 inches out the bottom of the plugs so I moved them straight to pot and gave them 1/4 cup of water before bed. I will add some soil in a day or so when the roots start setting. Really happy with my setup. Seedlings seems happy so far.
